My subjectively perfect blogging process
I feel motivated each day to take the time to write. I don’t know why, but I’m guessing it has to do with the process. The times I’ve started and failed journaling is more than I can remember. It always felt like a chore. This doesn’t.
I don’t completely understand it yet, but I’m documenting this subjectively perfect writing process for ‘future me’ to further reflect upon.
First of all, my blog has a purpose and subject. It’s loose, but the overall gist is to keep things simple. Simple, to me, means the absence of overthinking. More on this in another post.
The Process
Writing in iA Writer. I’ve been dismissive of markdown writing apps for a while. Why would I need anything beyond the native notes app? But wow... iA Writer is beautifully minimal and exceptionally powerful. It integrates seamlessly across devices, and backs up to the cloud. It’s simply a joy to use.
Bear blog. The transition from iA writer to bear blog is simple. The markdown works beautifully, and I get the same minimal vibe. It feels quiet where social media feels loud.
The long term. I feel comfortable with the longevity that bear blog will provide - but I’m also a realist, possibly a fatalist, and know it could very well disappear any day. This is why I admire its export options. And if for some reason everything gets taken offline before I have a chance to export, I’ve got my posts backed up to iA writer.
And this, my friends, is what makes my blogging process subjectively perfect. 👌
